Cry Macho - The Path to Redemption tells the story of Mike Milo (Clint Eastwood), a former rodeo star and failed horse breeder, who, in 1979, accepts a job offer from a former boss to bring in Rafa ( Eduardo Minett), the young son of this man, back home from Mexico. The unlikely pair face an unexpectedly challenging journey, during which the world-weary knight can find his own sense of redemption by teaching the boy what it means to be a good man.

The unlikely duo face an unexpectedly challenging journey, during which the world-weary knight can find his own sense of redemption by teaching the boy what it means to be a good man. Ever an individualist, Clint Eastwood began directing films in the 1970s for that he could have more creative control over the productions he starred.

In 2021, it will be 50 years since he has been directing himself, and it seems inevitable that this perennial exercise of seeing himself from the outside will make him increasingly aware of his self-image. Eastwood took years to make The Unforgivable, for example, because he didn't feel old enough to play Will Munny, and that's been three decades.
