The Last Duel

"The Last Duel" is a historical drama, directed and produced by Ridley Scott, based on the eponymous book by Eric Jager, with a screenplay by Nicole Holofcener. The plot takes place in France in the 14th century, during the 100 Years' War, and tells the story of the duel between the knight Jean and the squire Jacques Le Gris .

The two participated in several wars and were friends, but began to fight over land, until the whole friendship crumbles after Jean's wife, Lady Marguerrite Carrouges (Jodie Comer, the killer of the series Killing Eve) accuses Le Gris of have raped her. The film is divided into three parts - there are two versions of the facts and one which is the real truth.

“The Last Duel” also has sensational scenes of sensational battles and a lot of violence - the film received much criticism, as historians and scholars of the Middle Ages said that the armor presented in the film does not match the reality of that period. But these are just details that do not diminish Ridley Scott's success, in a work that makes us think about the injustices of the world, still very much in vogue today.
